Lahemaa means “land of the bays” in Estonian. The Lahemaa coast is among one of the most unusual in Europe. National Park is located 100 km east of Tallinn, which is about a one-hour drive by minivan.
We spend a day on the sea paddling to the most beautiful islands in North Estonia. The islands are now a reservation area for many breeds of birds. Although currently uninhabited, the islands have seen settlers right through the centuries. Remains of the old fishermen's villages are still visible. Stony and sandy beaches, relatively short paddling distances and well-protected bays make for a wonderful boating holiday.
