Paldiski was one of the Soviet Union's most important and off-limit bases in Europe.

The Soviet Union's submarine training centre was based here, with nobody from the outside world ever allowed in until 1994, when the last Russian naval ship left.

Even today, there are plenty of graphic reminders of the former Soviet presence here, with the remnants of barracks still present. Paldiski is also an area of outstanding natural beauty, as much of the peninsula remained untouched by the military during its time here. The rocky peninsula is backed by limestone cliffs, the Pakri Wind Farm, an attractive lighthouse, and miles of beautiful coastline.

This is a trip that combines adventure, discovery and nature exploration.
